- Learning Thai Culture Through Teachers’ Appreciation Day

At Mill Hill International School Thailand, the Thai Curriculum plays a vital role in nurturing pupils’ understanding of the Thai language, culture, and history, alongside their academic learning within a British curriculum framework.
As part of the activities surrounding Teachers’ Appreciation Day, pupils took part in a meaningful Thai lesson focused on creating traditional flower cones (กรวยดอกไม้)—a longstanding Thai symbol of gratitude and respect for teachers. Under the guidance of Kru Tle and Kru Mint, our Thai teachers, pupils learned not only the practical skills involved in preparing the flower cones, but also the cultural significance behind each flower and its symbolic meaning.
During the lesson, pupils explored how Thai traditions reflect deeply rooted values of respect, appreciation, and humility—values that are closely aligned with the ethos of Mill Hill International School Thailand. The activity encouraged pupils to ask questions, express curiosity, and engage thoughtfully with Thai culture, bringing learning to life in a handson and memorable way.
The Thai Curriculum at Mill Hill International School Thailand is designed to help pupils develop proficiency in the Thai language, gain a strong understanding of Thai culture, and build awareness of Thai history and traditions. Through experiential learning activities such as this, pupils are able to connect classroom knowledge with real cultural practices, fostering both understanding and respect for the society in which they live.
This lesson beautifully combined language learning, cultural education, and creativity, while reinforcing the importance of gratitude and respect for teachers. It reflects our commitment to providing a wellrounded education that values local culture and traditions, preparing pupils to grow as respectful, curious, and culturally aware global citizens.
We are proud of our pupils for embracing Thai culture with enthusiasm and appreciation, and we thank our Thai teaching team for creating meaningful learning experiences that enrich our school community.
